February Nasa's training is going really well, he continues to attend obedience and we are half way to passing our gold award. We have also started agility foundation training on Fridays with my trainer and good friend Jillian and her puppy Maddie, this is in preparation for him starting an agility starters course in March and April. This is the very start of Nasa's agility training and I'm very excited about starting our work together and learning each others little ways ready for the competitive ring in about 8 months time. I've added some more recent photo's of Nasa to his pictures page, feel free to go take a look. Coopers has finally received his official Kennel Club Activities Name ready for when he takes to the ring in competition, he is now officially 'Joshua's Little Mini Cooper', Josh picked this name himself so he is really pleased. Coopers training is also going very well at obedience, Josh is working on his handling control and Cooper is starting to get the idea of what he is to do and when, they have a wonderful bond growing between them and they have just a few more goals to achieve to attain their Bronze Certificate but I have a feeling this won't take long to do. I've added some new picture to Coopers page so you can see how much he has grown. Rudi will be running round the ring with Josh very soon at the OAJC (Open Agility Junior Championships), on 24th February this is the very first competition just for Junior handlers and their dogs and Josh and Rudi will be running in Team and Individual events over two days. I am sure they will have lots of fun on the day and will let you know how he does once its all over. Willow continues to live the sedate life that her age and health demands and allows, she is still plodding on and teaching Cooper how to behave, she is the matriach of our pack and shows all the younger ones how to tow-the-line. Ti on the other hand is a sleepy boy these days, preferring to snooze the day away until he decides that going for a walk is a good idea and then we stroll over the fields until he has had enough, he doesn't even try to race the little ones anymore he justs trips them up with this paws and pins them to the ground to play which is quite funny to watch as he has quite a technique for it now, never once hurting them but teaching them a lesson in that he may not be able to catch them on the run but he still can have the better of them once in a while. I have invested in some more important agility equipment, following on from the five Jumps that I made during the summer last year, this time I purchased a set of lovely new KC regulation size weaves. This means I can put in some extra practice with the new dogs once they are ready to learn and I can also keep Rudi on the his toes by practicing weave entry from different angles with a bit of extra garden practice. Well that is all our news for this month. Bye for now.
January Firstly I would like to wish everyone who has visited our site a happy and peaceful new year, I hope you all had a nice Christmas and a relaxing time. We took time out, as a family, on Christmas Day this year to remember Indi who passed away a year ago to the day. It is hard to believe she has been gone a year, but she left so many happy memories despite her short life here with us that we found ourselves remembering all the happy good times we had with her. Cooper has settled in well after his somewhat traumatic journey to us, he was covered in flea's and mites which were easy enough to treat and is much more comfortable now he has had a bath and is pest free. Sadly he came down with kennel cough just 5 days after coming home so was treated with an antibiotic injection and some T.L.C and recovered well. He has adjusted well to life in a busy family and is has a delightful character, he is a happy and bouncy little chap. He has become great friends with Nasa, who finds his puppy exhuberance matches his own, and they play for hours happily amusing each other. Josh has already attended his first puppy club lesson with Cooper and did very well, we had already been practicing the basics so he did very well on his first lesson. Coopers can now begin his social programe and get involved in all our family activities outside the home and has joined us once again on the walks to and from school with the children and on our other walks, so far he seems unconcerned about traffic. I've added some more images of Cooper to his page, hope you like them. As the rest of the dogs also came down with kennel cough too they were grounded until they all got it over and done with. As a result Nasa could not attend LKA in Birmingham, and Rudi has been unable to attend agility, so I have no show news to report. Just before Nasa got poorly he passed his Silver award at puppy obedience club, completing the final item on the list to gain his Silver Certificate. I am very proud of him and we shall now move on to the Gold award and see if we can get that passed too. I have already filled my diary with lots of dates for agility shows and am very much looking forward to competeing this year with Rudi and perhaps at the end of the year with Nasa if we can find a few lates shows to attend. Well thats all our news for now, until next month. Bye for now.
